UPPER HILLWOOD ROAD
// Completion Date: December, 2014
// Project Location: Cape Town, South Africa
// Neilmarie Architects: Neil Franks, Marie Middleton, Jakes Erasmus, Emmanuel Akfuna and Ray Lau

Project was done during my 6 months internship in Cape Town with Neilmarié Architects.
This project principally entailed the alterations to and refurbishment of an existing double-storey, sited on the north-facing side of the hill. The house lies on the east-west axis, approached from the south, with the main garden and aspect to the north. The design intention was to rationalise the flow and spatial planning of the house, to work within the external aesthetic of the existing house and to improve the relationship of the house to the garden through the creation of a series of landscaped platforms and outdoor spaces. A wide flight of stairs links the house and upper garden to the existing swimming pool and lower garden. Internally, the original parquet floors have been exposed and the materials/colour palette has been refreshed and modernised.
